In South Carolina, many people in need are often unable to access the help they deserve due to distance, lack of transportation, or limited resources in their area. 

At L.I.N.K. Empowerment Ministry, we see this as an opportunity to meet people where they are—literally. That’s why we’re launching the LINK Mobile Resource Unit to take hope and support on the road.

Costs Breakdown

Estimated Startup Costs: – $150,000

Breakdown:

  • Purchase and outfitting of a vehicle (e.g., van or RV): $60,000 – $80,000
  • Initial stock of supplies (food, clothing, hygiene kits): $10,000 – $20,000
  • Branding and promotional materials: $5,000
  • Operational costs for the first year (fuel, insurance, maintenance): $20,000 – $30,000

Timeline

Months 1-3:
  • Purchase or lease a vehicle and begin customization to include storage, shelving, and a small counseling space.
  • Develop branding and logos for the mobile unit.
    Build relationships with local food banks, clothing drives, and hygiene kit providers.
  • Stock the vehicle with initial supplies.
  • Recruit volunteers and drivers for the unit.
  • Plan routes and partnerships with churches or organizations in underserved areas.
  • Begin regular outreach trips, focusing on areas with high need.
  • Track engagement and supply distribution for continuous improvement.

To address the pressing issue of homelessness in Columbia, SC, we are seeking $150,000 to launch the LINK Mobile Resource Unit. This funding will enable us to deliver essential resources and support directly to those in need, ensuring that distance and accessibility are no longer barriers to assistance.
